True to its beginnings, Grantham
Construction continues to serve the residential market from
small remodels to custom homes. Grantham Construction is proud
to offer quality products for a fair price.
One of our most
notable residential projects is the restoration of Rowan Oak,
the home of Oxford’s most famous resident, William Faulkner.
In 1979, Grantham Construction was involved in the restoration
of the old home, built circa 1848, with funds provided by
the University Foundation.
In 1994, Grantham Construction returned to Rowan Oak
to restore four more outbuildings on the grounds of Oxford’s
famous author including a log stable and a cook house. Restoration
on the old stable was done by disassembling the stable, log
by log, dipping them in wood preservative, and carefully reconstructing
the stable using high definition photographs taken during
the disassembling process.
